Fashion resolutions for 2025
Don’t do it. Don't kick off 2025 by making unrealistic resolutions, no matter how good they seem.
After lazy days of napping on the sofa, indulging in panettone and merrymaking, promising ourselves that we’ll get up at dawn every day to meditate, squeeze in a run during our lunch break, reply to our emails right away and banish chocolate from the pantry gives us a boost. We manage at first, but after the initial setbacks, we comfort ourselves with convincing excuses. And only when we come off the rails completely do we throw in the towel, feeling a mix of disappointment and relief, because let's be honest, even Wonder Woman couldn't keep up with such a hectic TO-DO list.
The start of each year carries a deep symbolic weight, marking what we choose to leave behind and what we strive to nurture within ourselves instead. The problem is that, in trying to build a new version of ourselves, we often start at the top without first strengthening the foundations. But what if we began with our wardrobe as a way to take better care of ourselves?
Think about it: it's a much more meaningful task than we often realise. After all, it's right there, in front of the mirror, that every morning we make the choice to smile at ourselves, and at life.

Morning meditation or a jog in the park invigorates both body and mind, just like stepping out the door feeling confident in what we're wearing. So why not make the most of these winter evenings to devote some time to our wardrobe and, in turn, to ourselves?

My list is below. It may resonate with some, but not strike a chord with others. I’m sharing it as a simple starting point for everyone to create their own. And I would be happy to be inspired by yours, if you feel like sharing them.
1 - Let go. Your wardrobe tells the story of who you are, but does it make sense to hold on to pieces that belong to your past? Give them to friends, sell them online, or donate them to those in need. By doing so, you'll create both physical and mental space for a fresh new image of yourself. For instance wearing a double-breasted Cady blazer jacket you have never owned before.
2 - Only buy what makes you happy. If you're honest with yourself, you can tell when shopping is a true joy and when it's more about compensating for something or indulging in a whim. A pair of jeans that fits me like a glove, in my case, is a reason for jubilation and happiness.
3 - Pay attention to the compositions. Each item has a label inside that clearly states the materials it is made of, read it. A pure cotton poplin shirt will be an ally for life.
4 - Ask yourself what you need it for. The function of the garments in your wardrobe is an important factor to consider, but that doesn’t mean you have to be predictable. Who says a blue coat won’t get as much wear as a classic black one?
5 - Surprise yourself. A sequin skirt for a business meeting? If it gives you the right energy, why not?
